Station Road

Refurbishment (Phase 2 - Living Areas)

Station Road

Peterculter, Aberdeen

about this project

Station road is a modest 1980s bungalo, which was in need of refurbishment and modernisation to meet current living standards. The first phase of the refurbishment was replacement of the dated bathroom and en-suite. The Second phase is redesigning the kitchen and living areas to conect with the garden.

Swapping the existing kitchen and dining areas allowed the new sliding doors to extend the living space out to the garden.  Removing walls between the kitchen, living and hallway increase the 'flow' between spaces.  The breif was to design a kitchen space with blended into the background while still being highly functional, everything is hidden - includign the kitchen sink!

about this project

Station road is a modest 1980s bungalo, which was in need of refurbishment and modernisation to meet current living standards.  The first phase of the refurbishment  was replacement of the dated bathroom and en-suite, however the client wished to take the opertunity to seek a high quality design, which not only looks good, but has a feeling of calm and serenity.

Although modest in size, the simplisity of the design required attention to detail.  Consideration was given to the placement of every item and even the possitioning of each tile.

    Signal House

    Peterculter, Aberdeen

    about this project

Signal House is a Victorian Cottage, originally used by the Peterculter Signal master for the Royal Deeside Railway. The 140 year old granite cottage was largely unmodified and required a complete replacement of the heating system, redesigned layout and improved insulation for modern living.

Relocation of the kitchen from the front of the property allowed the living areas to take advantage of the South facing aspect, while replacement of radiators with a underfloor heating system and increased insulation, makes the house much more comfortable and efficient.
